“Seeking to attain an intuitive illumination of mind and spirit through meditation.”
– Websters College Dictionary.
Think back to some of the presentations you’ve had to attend at work.
How many of those presentations were like torture to sit through?
How many of those presentations were presented by shaky, nervous, un-life-of-the-party types whose idea of fun is extreme stamp collecting.
How many of those presentations had nightmare slides? A bullet-point collector’s heaven?
Now think about those same presentations with an improved slide deck…
Think Steve Jobs quality slides.
How many of those presentations would be “Zen”???
….Hang on!…. Before you answer, really think about it:
Same boring delivery by the same boring person.
Just a better slide deck.
What do you think?
In all seriousness, no matter how good the slides are the presentation is still going to suck.
You’ll still be sitting there fantasizing about being run over repeatedly by a combine harvester.
You’ll still be sitting in the audience thinking about all the blades of grass you could be counting if only you could get out of the meeting room.
Here’s the rule to remember:
A good presenter can compensate for bad slides. Good slides can’t compensate for a bad presenter.
The only way to get your presentation to “Zen” is to improve the way you deliver it.
